Will Globalization of Services Accelerate with Remote Work Being the New Normal?
AMCHAM’s Eastern Region organized a panel discussion via Webex on ‘Will Globalization of Services Accelerate with Remote Work Being the New Normal?’ on June 11th. The panellists were Mr. Chaitanya N. Sreenivas (Chinni), Chairman – HR Committee, AMCHAM and VP HR & HR Head India South Asia, IBM India, Ms. Rupa Ganguly, India Director, Hyland Software Solutions India LLP and Ms. Rashmita Parija, Country HR Manager India, Lexmark India. The session was moderated by Mr. Parag Saigaonkar, Partner, Deloitte India.
The session covered how globally organizations across industries have been adapting to new realities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic by challenging orthodoxies around the nature of their workforces and workspaces. The session was modelled on some of the key priority areas, which was based on the respond-recover-thrive model. The narrative focussed around how organizations were dealing with the present situation and managing continuity for which companies have many learnings and emerge stronger thus shaping the ‘new normal.’ Some of the issues covered included realignment of HR policies, ensuring employees linked to business critical activities were able to operate from home and implementing and monitoring safe/flexible working arrangements for all employees. The panellists spoke about how their organizations are sustaining agility in the workforce to ensure that work is being delivered. Reimagining talent strategy and operating models, reconsidering hiring pipelines and implications to brand and reputation, were also discussed. The session touched upon how priority areas would evolve in the future, strategy around future of work, leadership trainings in crisis and resilience, shape of business models and ecosystems of the future.
The moderator, Mr. Parag Saigaonkar, created a storytelling platform which kept the panellists and participants engaged. U.S. Consul General Patti Hoffman, U.S. Consulate Kolkata, joined the session and participated. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM, gave the welcome address and concluding remarks.
