Mr. Matt Ingeneri, Economic Growth Unit Chief at the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi, while on a familiarization visit to Kolkata, met with Mr. Gulshan Sachdev, NEB member, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Quaker Chemical, Mr. Subroto Bagchi, President, TCG Digital and Mr. K. P. Sengupta, Eastern Region Executive Committee member, AMCHAM and Vice Chairman, Data Core, on April 11th. Karnataka Chapter Executive Committee Meeting

The AMCHAM Karnataka Chapter hosted its second Executive Committee meeting for the year on 9th April 2019 at the Pricewaterhouse Coopers office in Bengaluru. Mr. Iqbal Sait, Chairman – Karnataka Chapter, AMCHAM and Managing Director India and Head of EMEA, Saggezza, upon successful completion of a two year term handed over charge to Mr. Sanjay Koul, Chairman – Manufacturing Committee, AMCHAM and Chairman & Managing Director, Timken India Limited, who will take over as Chair for FY 2019-20. Mr. Ravi Krishnan, Chief Administration Officer, Goldman Sachs, took over charge as Vice Chairman for FY 2019-20. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM and Mr. Palash Roy Chowdhury, Chairman – Aviation Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Pratt & Whitney – A UTC company and Mr. Amber Dubey, Co-Chairman – Aviation Committee, AMCHAM and Partner & Head Aerospace, KPMG, welcomed Secretary Kharola to his new role and updated him of AMCHAM’s Aviation Committee and the initiatives and activities being undertaken by the committee. The way forward for the committee, with alignment towards the government’s vision, was also discussed.

Western Region Committee Meeting

On Friday, 5th April 2019, AMCHAM India organized an Interactive Roundtable on ‘Cyber Intelligence – at the Forefront of Cyber Tech.’ The session began with a welcome address and setting of stage by Ms. Ursula Thakkar, Chairperson – Western Region, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Lubrizol Advanced Materials India Pvt. Ltd. Ms. Thakkar thanked Consul General Kagan for his ongoing support and partnership to AMCHAM India. This was followed by a special address by Consul General Edgard D. Kagan, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai. Ms. Surabhi Wahal, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM India introduced the panel of experts and invited them to share their views and experiences on the topic.

Eastern Region Executive Committee Meeting

AMCHAM’s Eastern Region had its last Executive Committee meeting for FY-18/19 on April 3, 2019 in Kolkata. The meeting was hosted by Executive Committee member, Ms. Brigit Holms, at the Hyatt Regency. Mr. Debdas Sen, Chairman – Eastern Region, AMCHAM, highlighted the past year’s events and the way forward for the incoming committee. He said that all the events held were well attended mentioning the gender diversity event which has become an annual feature of the Eastern Region and one of the highlights of the year. Members discussed how to get the regional members further involved and the incoming committee would look at adding further value to members in the region. The meeting was concluded with thanks to the Chairman.

Meeting with National War College Students

On April 2nd AMCHAM’s Defense Committee members from Boeing Defense India, BAE Systems India and Northrop Grumman India interacted with the students and faculty of the National War College during a visit to New Delhi. Mr. Michael Koch, Chairman – Defense Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President, Boeing Defense India, initiated the discussions on behalf of industry. It was a profound session with discussion on U.S. – India relations with respect to defense partnerships. Mid-level and senior military officers who were likely to be promoted to the most senior ranks are selected to study at the War College in preparation for higher staff and command positions. The intense and engaging interaction with experienced members was much appreciated by the officers.

The 1st meeting of AMCHAM’s Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) CXO group was held on Tuesday, March 5th, in Mumbai. AMCHAM organized a meeting of the Medical Devices Committee with Ms. Aileen Nandi, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy, at the American Centre in New Delhi on February 5th. Other Embassy officials included Mr. Darrel Ching, Principal Commercial Officer, Mr. Gregory Taevs, Acting Deputy Senior Commercial Officer and Ms. Bhavna Vishwakarma, Senior Commercial Specialist. The purpose of the meeting was to brief the Embassy officials on the key challenges faced by U.S. based medical devices companies in India before the visit of U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Wilbur Ross in February 2019. Northern Region Council Executive Committee Meeting

The Northern Region Council of AMCHAM met on a concall on February 5th, 2019.  The meeting was chaired by Mr. Amit Sharma, Chairman – Northern Region Council, AMCHAM and Executive Vice President and President Asia, ATC India. Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Core Committee Meeting

On 31st January 2019, the Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Core Committee organized a meeting in the Genpact office, Gurugram. The opening remarks were given by Ms. Ritika Ratti, Chairperson – Anti-Corruption & FCPA Compliance Committee, AMCHAM and Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer & Head of Anti-Corruption, Walmart India. There was an interactive discussion on the focus areas for member companies’ anti-corruption programs in 2019, usefulness of chat BOTs, processing payments for third parties, tracking for trainings – how is it maintained, and use of artificial intelligence by compliance teams and investigators.
