Meeting with the Dr. Amit Mitra, Minister-in-Charge of Finance, Excise, Commerce & Industries, Public Enterprise, Industrial Reconstruction Commerce and Industry, and Dr. Krishna Gupta, IAS M.D. West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, Government of West Bengal (GOWB) at the WBIDC Office Kolkata
On August 19, 2015; Dr. Krishna Gupta requested a meeting with Mr. Dinesh Agarwal, Chairman AmCham Eastern Chapter and Amada Kidwai, Regional Director.
Present from the GOWB was The Honorable Dr. Amit Mitra, Minister-in-Charge of Finance, Excise, Commerce & Industries, Public Enterprise, Industrial Reconstruction & Commerce and Industry, Dr. Krishna Gupta, IAS, M.D. West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, (WBIDC), Mr. S. Kishore, IAS, Principal Secretary, Departments of Information Technology & Electronics and Commerce & Industries, GOWB and Mr. Kaushick Saha, Executive Director WBIDC.
AmCham Eastern Region was represented by Mr. Dinesh Agarwal, Chairman AmCham Eastern Region and Regional Director Amada Kidwai.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the Bengal Investment Summit organized from 7th – 9th January 2016 at Kolkata. Dr. Mitra has requested AmCham Eastern Chapter to ask delegation of 4-5 American Global Companies (like IBM, Microsoft, HP, Cisco, Accenture, Coca Cola and GE) having presence in India to participate in the Summit.
Dr. Mitra has asked AmCham to request Global or Indian CEOs of above companies to attend the Summit. He informed us that the CEOs shall be invited as Guest of Honor and shall be provided with an opportunity to speak at the Summit. They would also be guests of the State and would be provided with a personal manager for all the events.
During the meeting Dr. Mitra also spoke to Mr. Ajay Singha, Executive Director, AmCham India and informed the above request to him. He also asked Mr. Singha to arrange for heads of possible investors to meet him on Monday, September 7 over breakfast at the Bengal Bhawan, New Delhi. Mr. Singha agreed and also spoke of organizing a presentation on “Smart Cities” that AmCham is taking forward.
The meeting was concluded with Dr. Mitra thanking Mr. Dinesh Agarwal and Amada Kidwai for taking the time to meet with him and his team.
