Interaction with AmCham Hong Kong Apparel and Textile Delegation to India

 

AMCHAM hosted an interactive session with AmCham Hong Kong’s apparel and textile delegation on September 4th in New Delhi. The delegation included representatives from many large U.S. brands in the apparel, footwear and logistics sector based in Hong Kong for the Asia Pacific region. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM India and Ms. Tara Joseph, President, AmCham Hong Kong, made opening remarks. The delegation included Carter’s, Gap, PVH India Limited, Ralph Lauren and VF Asia Limited, among others. There was a lively discussion on export incentives, infrastructure challenges, ethical sourcing, perception of India from other countries and taxation.

 

From KPMG in India the following experts addressed the delegation: Mr. Naveen Aggarwal, Partner and COO –Tax, Partner in-charge, U.S – India Corridor, Mr. Nikhil Sethi, Partner, Management Consulting, Mr. Sameer Jain, Partner, Infrastructure, Government and Healthcare, Mr. Manpreet Singh, Partner – Climate Change and Sustainability and Mr. Harpreet Singh, Partner – Indirect Tax. Based on the discussion, AMCHAM India invited delegates to become members and start a working group on textiles and apparel which would have an industry chair driving the agenda and working with AMCHAM to create a knowledge paper going forward.
