HR Committee Meeting
The HR Committee Meeting took place on 23rd August 2017 at the EY office in Mumbai. The introduction and opening remarks were given by Mr. DP Singh, Chairman – HR Committee, AMCHAM and Vice President – Human Resources (India/South Asia), IBM India.
In the previous meeting the committee had decided to plan events around three themes, namely, upskilling, talent management, capability; inclusion and diversity, and the digitization of HR. Ms. Shalini Pillay, Head HR, KPMG, who is leading the ‘Inclusion and Diversity’ group presented the group’s idea of a maturity model and its assessment based on various dimensions. The participants discussed and deliberated the various dimensions and suggested additional dimensions that should be included. It was decided that the group needed to define at least 3 outcomes after the completion of the maturity model assessment. Ms. Alpana Dutta, Partner, EY made a presentation on ‘Digitization of HR.’ She discussed the group’s plan for the coming months on behalf of Mr. Amarpal Chadha, Partner, EY. Ms. Dutta discussed how the future of work and improvements in technology will affect the employees. She also shed light on how the role of HR will change with automation which will raise the need of upskilling. Thereafter Mr. Anil Sharma, Group HR Manager, Synopsys India, presented his ideas for the group on ‘Upskilling, Talent Management, Capability.’ He suggested that it would be helpful to organize a webinar on ‘Big Data and Machine Learning,’ which was agreed upon.
The participants were requested to give inputs and discuss the viability of the ideas and plans mentioned. The committee deliberated and planned to organize an event by the end of the year on ‘Upskilling and Learning’ as a theme. Mr. DP Singh held an interactive discussion on the ‘Draft New Labor Code’ and based on collective opinions, the HR Committee would like to send a representation to the Government of India on the same.
