Exclusive Interaction with Consul General David J. Ranz, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai on Business Challenges and Best Practices of Western Region Members in the Times of COVID-19

On April 3rd, AMCHAM organized an exclusive webinar interaction with Consul General David J. Ranz, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai on business challenges and best practices of AMCHAM’s Western Region member companies in the times of COVID-19. The session commenced with a welcome and introduction of the Consul General. This was followed by Consul General Ranz sharing an overview of the initiatives and priorities of the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai, which included supporting U.S. companies in the region in an ease of operation with specific support to essential services in the unprecedented and challenging times of COVID-19. He also spoke of the efforts of the U.S. Mission towards the repatriation of U.S. citizens in India which were planned over the weekend. CG Ranz highlighted the need for U.S. companies to demonstrate its strong value systems by supporting the government’s efforts in flattening India’s COVID-19 curve. This was followed by an address by Mr. Sudhir Shenoy, Chairman – Western Region, AMCHAM and CEO, Dow Chemical International.

 

In the interactive discussion that followed AMCHAM’s Western Region members actively shared success stories of the responsiveness of the government in providing exemptions for certain critical industries and ideated on the possibility of coming together as American companies to make an impact by channelling CSR funds towards COVID-19 relief and contributing to provide PPEs, surgical masks and ventilators for healthcare providers. In closing Ms. Kaku Nakhate, Vice Chairperson, AMCHAM and President & Country Head, India, Bank of America, stated that AMCHAM has partnered with Invest India and NITI Aayog during this global health crisis and invited member companies to reach out with any support that they could provide. She concluded by thanking Consul General Ranz, members of the U.S. Consulate General Mumbai and Western Region members for taking the time to be a part of this important discussion.
