Sector Overview

Economic relations between India and the United States comprise of bilateral trade in goods and services and investments across several industry sectors. Presently the bilateral trade between the two countries is pegged at 100 billion USD and the two governments have set their sights on achieving 500 billion USD in the near future.

The two governments, over the years have established several agreements, MOUs and bilateral platforms to review, examine and increase trade and investment between the two countries. The Economic Affairs Committee provides inputs to these ongoing dialogues and conveys the concerns of AMCHAM members to these bilateral platforms.

The Economic Affairs Committee published a document outlining the key challenges across multiple industry segments which impact US – India economic relations. It also initiated and subsequently assisted ICRIER in publishing a report outlining the impact of US investments in India. The committee also meets key policy makers to discuss macro-economic issues influencing economic fundamentals and improving the business climate in India.
