Delegation of Medical Devices Committee to Colombo, Sri Lanka

 

Mr. Prabal Chakraborty, Chairman, AmCham Medical Devices Committee and VP and Managing Director, Boston Scientific, led a delegation from AmCham’s Medical Devices Committee to Colombo, Sri Lanka on 29-30th August, 2016.  The purpose of this delegation was to explore business opportunities in the healthcare sector in Sri Lanka, with a special focus on the medical devices sector, as well as promoting U.S. – Sri Lanka trade in healthcare.

 

The delegation met with officials from the Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, including meeting with Mr. Cassim Faizal, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Mr. Anura Jayawickrema, Secretary, Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Dr. Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala, Director General Health Services, Ministry of Health, Nutrition and Indigenous Medicine, Prof. Asita De Silva, Chairman, NMRA, and Dr. Kamal Jayasinghe, CEO, NMRA. The group also met with officials from the U.S. Embassy in Colombo over a briefing session on 29th August at the AmCham Sri Lanka office.

 

The 12 member delegation comprised of participants from members of AmCham’s Medical Devices Committee which included Boston Scientific, Abbott, GE, Medtronic, CR Bard and St. Jude Medical. From the AmCham secretariat, Mr. Gaurav Mendiratta accompanied the delegation.
