CSR – Time to walk the talk, 3 June 2014 – Bangalore
On 3 June 2014, The Amcham Karnataka Chapter, in association with Social Venture Partners India held a session on“CSR – Time to Walk the Talk,” with a special focus on the new CSR rules in the first year of their implementation.
There are many business & professional leaders in India, who want to see a greater social impact through their organisation’s CSR activities; higher social consciousness & participation from their employees.
There is a new urgency around compliance & improving the CSR spend-impact ratios; a desire to participate in the exponentially growing entrepreneurial activity in social businesses & a high potential for cross-sector connections and learnings between for-profit and non-profit sectors.
The keynote address was given by Mr. Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman, Social Venture Partners India, Former Chairman of Microsoft India and Cummins India. Other speakers were Mr. Atul Ujagar, Country Director – India, Sri-Lanka, Pak; Nike Sourcing India Pvt Ltd., Mr. Chengappa Ponnappa, Executive Director PwC & Ms. Renuka Kumar, Director -Ministry of Rural Development, Govt. of India.
There was a panel discussion on ‘Aligning CSR with Business Strategy’. The panellists were Mr. M. N. Vidyashankar, President, India Electronics & Semiconductor Association & Additional Chief Secretary to Government (R) GoK, Dr. Gopichand Katragadda, Chairman & MD, GE India Technology Centre Private Limited and ExeComm Member, Amcham Karnataka; Mr. Amit Sharma, COO, IBM India/South Asia and Ms. Nisha Agrawal, CEO, Oxfam. The panel was moderated by Ms. Akila Krishnakumar, Chair, Social Venture Partners India, Bangalore, Former President – Global Solution Centers at SunGard.
