AMCHAM’s Medical Technology Working group has requested to grant exemption for Medical Devices and Equipment’s for Quality Control Order (S.O. 4353(E), dated 4th December 2019) – effective by 1st June 2020 by one year till 1st June 2021 (Reg Plugs and Socket outlets and Alternating Current Direct Connected Static Prepayment Meters for Active Energy Order 2019) to Dr. Mandeep Bhandari, Joint Secretary, MoHFW,  Dr. V. G. Somani, Drugs Controller General of India, Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, and Mr. Navdeep Rinwa, Joint Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals, on 1st May 2020.

 

AMCHAM ICT Committee recommendation on Personal Data Protection Bill 2019

 

 

AMCHAM ICT Committee reached out to all the members of AMCHAM to present their views on the National Personal Data Protection Bill that was tabled in 2019. A working group has been formed of 20 Lok Sabha and 10 Rajya Sabha Members and the working group urged the Industry to submit their inputs. A total of 16 inputs were presented to AMCHAM . They were all compiled and submitted to the working group on 25th February 2010. AMCHAM ICT committee would be sending requests to the working group members to discuss the submission in details.

Pre Budget Recommendations for 2020-21

 

 

AMCHAM India has compiled and submitted proposals for the Union Budget 2020-21to the Ministry of Finance in November 2019. The recommendations  compiled with suggestions obtained from AMCHAM Members for changes in the duty structure, rates and broadening of tax base on both direct and indirect taxes giving economic justification for each.

FTI Consulting White Paper prepared for the office of The National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC)

 

 

After months of deliberations, research and meetings, AMCHAM along with FTI Consulting has created a White Paper prepared for the office of The National Cyber Security Coordinator (NCSC), Government of India which provides recommendation for the India’s National Cyber Security Strategy 2020. The paper was submitted to NCSC on 29th November 2019.

Feedback on Draft Personal Data Protection Bill, 2018

.

On 10th October, AMCHAM submitted a response to the Draft Personal Data Protection Bill 2018 to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) as per inputs received by members. The recommendations were aimed to make regulatory regime for data protection more effective while ensuring it does not impact the adoption of evolving technologies and business models.

AMCHAM’s Tax, Tariff and Regulatory Affairs Committee presented post budget recommendations to Mr. Arun Jailtely, Minister of Finance and Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Secretary (Finance) in the Ministry of Finance on March 5th, 2018. Representation on Sixty Days of GST – Implementation Challenges

 

 

AMCHAM’s Tax, Tariff and Regulatory Affairs Committee sent a representation to Mr. Hasmukh Adhia, Secretary, Department of Revenue, on the implementation challenges for the first sixty days of GST. A copy of the letter was also sent to Mr. Alok Shukla, Joint Secretary (TRU-I), Central Board of Excise & Customs. A similar letter was addressed to Ms. Vanaja N. Sarna, Chairperson, Central Board of Excise & Customs with a copy to Mr. Alok Shukla, Joint Secretary (TRU-I), Central Board of Excise & Customs.

AMCHAM Ganga Action Plan End-to-End Solution by Member Companies

 

 

AMCHAM’s Infrastructure and Smart Cities Committee submitted the AMCHAM Ganga Action Plan — an end-to-end solution by member companies — to Mr. Nripendra Misra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister with copies marked to Dr. Shrikar Pardesi, Director, Smart Cities, PMO, and Dr. Sameer Sharma, Additional Secretary, Smart Cities, Ministry of Urban Development.

 

 

Representation on Clarification Related to Final Guidelines for Establishing ‘Place of Effective Management’ (POEM) in India

 

 

AMCHAM’s Tax, Tariff and Regulatory Affairs Committee made a representation to Mr. Sushil Chandra, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes, seeking clarification related to final guidelines  for establishing ‘Place of Effective Management ‘(POEM) in India. Similar letters were also addressed to Mr. Arbind Modi, Member (Legislation), Central Board of Direct Taxes and Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bhoot, Joint Secretary (TPL-II), Central Board of Direct Taxes.
