Amcham Delegation to Bangladesh to participate in TICFA Private Sector Talks, April 27-28, 2014
U.S. Ambassador in Dhaka, Mr. Dan Mozena, invited Amcham India to join a U.S. private sector delegation on 27th April 2014 in Dhaka to exchange views with the U.S.-Bangladesh official delegation ahead of the U.S.-Bangladesh Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA) on 28th April 2014 in Dhaka.
Amcham took a 6-member delegation to Dhaka. The delegation members were Mr. Sanjay Banerjee, Regional Managing Director, South Asia, Zimmer India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Rakesh K. Chitkara, Vice President, Corporate Affairs, GE South Asia, GE India Industrial Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Nitin Doddihal, Vice President – Business Development, Asia, ATC Tower Company of India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Ashok Kumar Raghavan Nair, Vice President (SRAQC), Johnson & Johnson Medical India Limited; and Mr. Farrukh Alam, Country Manager, Medtronic Bangladesh. From Amcham, Ms Madhvi Kataria, Deputy Executive Director, accompanied the delegation.
Amcham members briefed the U.S. Government delegation on difficulties faced by U.S. exporters of medical devices to Bangladesh due to lack of regulatory policy for medical devices; bidding for procurement contracts; business visas; need for transparency in awarding contracts, etc.
Amcham delegates participated in a joint meeting with Amcham Bangladesh and Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry; reception hosted by U.S. Ambassador; meeting with U.S. and Bangladesh Government officials; meeting with Md. Golam Kibria, Director, DGDA and reception hosted by Special Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of Bangladesh.
