Panel discussion on the Draft Companies Bill by Hon’ble Minister of State for Corporate & Minority Affairs, Mr. Salman Khurshid on March 18, 2010 at Magnolia, India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi

The American Chamber of Commerce in India, European Business Group (EBG) and British Business Group (BBG) jointly organized a panel discussion with Mr. Salman Khurshid, Hon'ble Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Minority Affairs, at India Habitat Centre on 18th March 2010.

Over 120 people participated.

Mr. Salman Khurshid discussed the Draft Companies Bill to be introduced which would replace the Companies Act, 1956 with focus on fixing more responsibility on independent directors and their norms for appointment and code of conduct. He also discussed protection of the rights of minority shareholders, bringing about responsible self-regulation with adequate disclosure and accountability and lesser government control over internal corporate processes.
