Meeting
with representatives from Medical Equipment and
Devices Industry, accompanying Ms Holly Vineyard,
Deputy Assistant Secretary for South East Asia,
Africa and the Middle East, US Department of Commerce

The
American Chamber of Commerce in India (AMCHAM)
organized a meeting with the visiting delegation
consisting of representatives of Medical Equipment
and Devices Industry, accompanying Ms Holly Vineyard,
Deputy Assistant Secretary for South East Asia,
Africa and the Middle East, US Department of Commerce,
on Wednesday, the 27th August 2008 at ACSA, New
Delhi.
Mr.
Sanjay Banerjee, Chairman, AMCHAM Medical Equipment
and Devices Committee, and Managing Director,
Zimmer India Pvt. Ltd., welcome the members of
the delegation and the participants from the American
companies in India. He requested Mr. Ralph F.
Ives, Executive Vice President of Global Strategy
and Analysis, AdvaMed, to debrief the participants
on the discussion he had with Government officials
during his visit to India as part of the HTCG
delegation.
Mr.
Ives briefed the participants about his meetings
with the Government. He said that he had good
discussion with the Government and there was some
clarity in the process forward. The Government
of India was closer to formulating pricing policy
although there were no clear lines drawn. He said
that AMCHAM members should give the Government
different models of pricing including ‘best
practices’.
He
informed that the next meeting of the HTCG which
also included medical equipment and devices would
be held around 8th of December 2008 in Washington,
as proposed by USIBC.
The meeting concluded with a Vote of Thanks to
the Chairman.
