The
American Chamber of Commerce in India and the
US Embassy organized a meeting with Ms Goli Ameri,
Assistant Secretary of State, Board of Educational
and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State,
on 18th August 2008 at Hotel Maurya Sheraton,
New Delhi.
Ms
Goli Ameri was accompanied by Mr. Thomas A. Farrell,
Deputy Assistant Secretary – Academic Programs,
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, US
Department of State. Ms Liza A. Swenarski, Public
Diplomacy Officer from the US Embassy, also participated.

Mr.
Ajay Singha welcomed Ms Goli Ameri and the participants.
He requested the participants to introduce themselves
and make a few remarks on the CSR initiatives
of their companies.
Ms
Goli Ameri, in her opening observations, said
that she was interested in linking the US businesses
in India with the Department of State English
Language Programmes. Also, she wanted to interlink
the private sector and CSR activities because
these created goodwill and enabled development
of workforce.
