A breakfast interactive session with The Honourable Partha Chatterjee, Minister in charge of Commerce & Industry and IT.
On June 3, AMCHAM India , Kolkata Chapter organized a breakfast interactive session at ITC Sonar and invited The Honourable Partha Chatterjee, Minister in charge of Commerce & Industry and IT amongst the many other Ministries he handles to be the Chief Guest. The regional chapter also invited Professor Abhirup Sarkar, a renowned economist and a Professor at the Indian Statistical Institute to be a special guest. This was the first Interactive session the Kolkata chapter had with the New Government, the first meeting with the new committee and the very first address the Minister had with any other Chamber in Kolkata. This was an excellent start for both the committee and members of the chamber with the New Government.
Professor Sarkar spoke on the Revival of the Economic Policy of West Bengal and the Honourable Minister spoke on the Future of Bengal’s Industrialization the discussions with both the speakers were engaging and this interaction helped members understand both the current economic situation in West Bengal and the Policies the Government had plans to put in place.
Chairman of the Kolkata Chapter Ambarish Dasgupta welcomed the Minister, Special Guests and Members of the Chamber. Mr. Anirudha Lahiri, Vice Chairman, National Board of the Chamber gave the concluding remarks and opened the floor for a Q&A session. The Q&A session was informative, frank and lively.
