Establishment Of ECP
Areas Of Focus
- The U.S. India Energy Cooperation Program intends to mobilize private sector expertise and resources to address important energy related issues in India and the United States;
- The U.S. agencies intend to contribute funding for studies and related project development work on clean and efficient energy best practices, as identified in consultation with the ECP and Indian government agencies such as the Planning Commission, Ministry of Power, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Ministry of Coal, as well as Indian counterpart organizations.
- The ECP would be a medium to provide the U.S. and Indian agencies a more coherent and targeted approach to address energy issues of mutual interest to the United States and India.
- The Agencies plan to work with the ECP with a view to advancing cooperation in clean energy and energy efficiency fields and viable clean energy technologies and applications, including those for unconventional gas resources and advanced biofuels.
- Establishment of an ECP led Energy efficiency and Clean Energy Exchange Program to share expertise on important clean energy and viable energy efficiency technologies and best practices between the United States and India.
