AMCHAM Business Delegation to Nepal, 27th - 29th June 2011

A 12-member delegation of the American Chamber of Commerce in India (Amcham) visited Kathmandu (Nepal) at the invitation of the U.S. Ambassador in Nepal, H.E. Mr. Scott H. DeLisi, from 27th to 29th June 2011 to obtain first-hand information on the business environment in the country and identify areas for business expansion. The delegation was led by Mr. Aniruddha Lahiri, Vice Chairman, Amcham, and CEO, SkyTECH Solutions Pvt. Ltd. The delegation included Mr. Rajan Aiyer, Trimble Naviation India Pvt. Ltd.; Wg. Cdr. (Rtd.) B.S. Singh Deo, Bell Helicopter India Inc.; Ms Juhi Gupta, Monsanto India Ltd.; Mr. Deepak Jolly, Coca-Cola India & SWA; Mr. Ashok Kumar Kakkar, GE Healthcare; Mr. Sanjay Mehrotra, Johnson & Johnson; Ms Arti Singh, Bharti Walmart Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Meenu Singhal, Rockwell Automation India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. Harmeet S. Sodhi, Rockwell Automation India Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. S. Soundararadjane, Monsanto India Ltd., and Ms Madhvi Kataria, Deputy Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce in India.

In Kathmandu, the delegation had meetings with:

• Mr. Jhala Nath Khanal, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal
• Mr. Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Hon’ble Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Nepal
• Ministers and senior officials of the Government of Nepal
• Maoist leaders including Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Chairman and Vice Chairman   of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) respectively, and Ms Hisila Yami, former Minister of Nepal
• Business leaders of Nepal from the Nepal-USA Chamber of Commerce and Industry
• Members of the delegation had individual meetings with senior officials of the Nepal Government in their specific line of   business.
